The\u00a0Department of Energy has warned consumers to brace themselves for a substantial \u00a0hike in the fuel price.<\/p>\n
It is reported that the increase, reported to take place in April, could be as\u00a0much as R2 a litre.<\/p>
The increase would see the fuel price raising back to the R13 mark from the R10 a litre experienced at the end of January.<\/p>\n
The Energy Departments spokesman Tseliso Maqubela said, \u201cIn the next month as things stand, we will see one of the biggest increases in fuel for quite a while and that will be once-off, but it is going to be quite significant.\u201d<\/p>
\u201cWe have to accept that that volatility in the price of oil\u00a0will be with us for quite a while.\u201d<\/p>\n
Higher levies and announced in last month\u2019s budget will also effect the fuel prices\u00a0come April.<\/p>\n
“Despite this increase consumers will still be paying less for a litre than they were a year ago,”\u00a0Maqubela said.<\/p>\n
