{"id":82981,"date":"2015-03-07T16:53:38","date_gmt":"2015-03-07T14:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/82981\/de-villiers-rues-lack-of-partnerships\/"},"modified":"2015-03-07T18:01:57","modified_gmt":"2015-03-07T16:01:57","slug":"de-villiers-rues-lack-of-partnerships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/sports-news\/2015\/03\/07\/de-villiers-rues-lack-of-partnerships\/","title":{"rendered":"De Villiers rues lack of partnerships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Castle Lager Proteas captain, AB de Villiers, has rued the lack of partnerships during crucial situations in his team\u2019s 29-run (D\/L Method) loss to Pakistan at Eden Park on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Proteas batsmen squandered a good start in pursuit of a reachable target, but lost wickets at regular intervals in their chase.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure,\u201d De Villiers said of the reason behind his team\u2019s poor record batting second.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a disappointing loss. We didn\u2019t get enough partnerships during the pressure situations. We have done it in the past but unfortunately tonight we couldn\u2019t do that.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI felt that Pakistan wanted it more than us. There is nothing wrong with the batting; it\u2019s a matter of urgency and being prepared to fight it out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>De Villiers says he doesn\u2019t feel any added pressure of the responsibility after again finishing as the standout performer with the bat, and believes the rest of the line-up is more than capable of pulling off chases under the pressure.<\/p>\n<div class='tie-fluid-width-video-wrapper tie-ignore-fitvid' style='margin-bottom: 30px;'>\n\t\t\t<iframe style='width: 100%; min-height: 300px; aspect-ratio: 16\/9;' src='https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/jm8wBRK4G00' loading='lazy'><\/iframe>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t, I have full faith in the abilities of the players around me, that is why they are all here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know I can\u2019t win this World Cup alone, there is no way, I need my teammates and I know they have the capabilities to do that. It\u2019s a matter of pulling together as a side and moving forward as a unit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He gave credit to the energy and hunger from Pakistan\u2019s bowlers, but felt his team may have shown some complacency ahead of the match.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey bowled well, they were fired up and really wanted to win the game, you could see that from a mile away,\u201d he said of Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tried to get the boys going before the game but it didn\u2019t feel like we had enough energy, I guess that showed with the bat in hand.
