This comes after she tabled the provincial budget.<\/p>\n<p>According to the publication, \u201cCreecy noted that Premier David Makhura &#8216;s advisory panel on e-tolling had recommended a hybrid model for funding provincial roads maintenance and development.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe new model would recognise the \u2018user pays\u2019 principle but would incorporate financial contributions by the national and provincial governments \u2018to ease the financial burden on motorists\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Creecy was quoted as saying, \u201cOnce the intergovernmental team has completed its work, we will include a provincial contribution towards meeting the costs in the provincial adjustment appropriation later this year.\u201d<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>During his State of the Province speech on February 23, Makhura asked the people of Gauteng to wait for Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa&#8217;s committee to complete its inquiry into e-tolling.<\/p>\n<p>During the budget speech, Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene said, &#8220;Concerns regarding the socioeconomic impact of [e-tolling] tariffs have been heard and revised monthly ceilings will shortly be proposed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will include a national contribution to meeting the associated cost in the adjustments appropriation later this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeasures will also be taken to ease compliance and improve enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut cost recovery from road-users will continue to be the principal financing mechanism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Makhura&#8217;s review panel on e-tolling found that the system was unaffordable, inequitable, cumbersome and placed a disproportionate burden on low-and-middle income households.<\/p>\n<p>At its elective conference in October, the ANC in Gauteng rejected e-tolling.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng has camped outside the Gauteng Legislature demanding a referendum.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the picketing, DA Provincial Chairperson said, \u201cI keep getting bills for cars I don\u2019t even have, I am not going to pay the e-tolls.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><strong>See more tweets here<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/DAGauteng?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DAGauteng<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/Etolls?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Etolls<\/a> RT <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/J_chabalala?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@J_chabalala<\/a>: Moodey: The people of Gauteng have spoken, they said they dont want etolls<\/p>\n<p>&mdash;
