The GCN recently reported that a case of child negligence had been opened against a day care centre, in Katlehong, following allegations that an 18-month-old toddler\u2019s feet were burnt at the centre.<\/p>\n
Capt Maga Ndobe, communications official for the Katlehong SAPS gave the GCN more details on the ongoing investigation.<\/p>
\u201cWe are continuing our investigation into the case of child neglect,” he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis comes after claims that a baby boy was, on Thursday, February 19, burnt with boiling water at a cr\u00e8che in the Mavimbela section of Katlehong.<\/p>
\u201cIt is alleged that a baby’s mother was called to the cr\u00e8che when a baby cried when he supposed to wear shoes.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the cr\u00e8che no one could explain what had happened to the baby.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe mother claimed that doctors at the clinic noticed that the baby’s legs, as well as his feet, were burnt.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth legs were bandaged before he was taken home.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are currently awaiting a doctor\u2019s report, so that we can confirm whether the investigation should be changed from child negligence to assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.\u201d<\/p>\n
