Germiston Callies’ Kayla Gilbert is the new instructor at Ho\u00ebrskool Goudrif’s gym.<\/p>\n

“The gym was closed last year due to the instructor leaving and there was nobody to take over,” said Germiston Callies and Ho\u00ebrskool Goudrif athletics coach, Stephan\u00e9 Kotz\u00e9.<\/p>

Kotz\u00e9 said Gilbert will also be helping with the school’s athletics.<\/p>\n

“Kayla has gained a lot of experience and continues to do so as she is an athlete and I personally believe that she will be very useful to these youngsters and give them the best advice,” he said.<\/p>

Gilbert said she is excited to give back to the community.<\/p>\n

“I take this as an opportunity for me to give back to the community.<\/p>\n

“I will be taking my experience and knowledge as an athlete and sharing it with the aspiring athletes,” she said.<\/p>\n

“What also makes me happy is that I only started on Wednesday, and already we have had over 40 students signing up for the gym.”<\/p>\n

Gilbert said at the moment it is only open to the students.<\/p>\n

“The principal said as time goes by we might open it to the community, as well,” said Gilbert.<\/p>\n

“I will mainly be helping with fitness and healthy diets and I am looking at having Pilates classes.”<\/p>\n

“We are open from 2pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.”<\/p>\n

Gilbert said the gym’s operation times don’t clash with her own training times.<\/p>\n

“I train in the morning so I have enough time to relax and prepare for the gym.”<\/p>\n

“I am excited and happy to be doing what I love while giving back.”<\/p>\n
