{"id":79620,"date":"2015-01-28T14:10:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-28T12:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/79620\/make-pizza-making-history-with-your-global-pizza-challenge-entry-2\/"},"modified":"2015-01-28T14:42:21","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T12:42:21","slug":"make-pizza-making-history-with-your-global-pizza-challenge-entry-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/lifestyle-news\/entertainment-news\/2015\/01\/28\/make-pizza-making-history-with-your-global-pizza-challenge-entry-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Make pizza-making history with your Global Pizza Challenge entry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next great Global Pizza Challenge is underway, with the invitation to would-be pizza champions to create their masterpiece recipes and send in their entries.<\/p>\n<p>The Global Pizza Challenge \u2013 run in 16 countries around the world \u2013 is designed to promote a passion for pizza-making with pizazz and to introduce a whole new spectrum of innovative pizzas to the pizza-loving world.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The South African-leg of the Global Pizza Challenge starts now, with a call for entries in four categories \u2013 chicken or meat; seafood; vegetarian; speciality or dessert.<\/p>\n<p>The first prize for the overall pizza champion in this competition is R15 000.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_79622\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-79622\" style=\"width: 423px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/01\/05GCNENTERTAINMENT_584246033.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-79622\" src=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/01\/05GCNENTERTAINMENT_584246033-423x317.jpg\" alt=\"Colin du Plessis's winning pizza.\" width=\"423\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2015\/01\/05GCNENTERTAINMENT_584246033-423x317.jpg 423w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2015\/01\/05GCNENTERTAINMENT_584246033-200x150.jpg 200w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2015\/01\/05GCNENTERTAINMENT_584246033.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 423px) 100vw, 423px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-79622\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Colin du Plessis&#8217;s winning pizza.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Pizza-makers in stand-alone pizzerias, restaurants, hotels, or fast food outlets and franchises are invited to join the challenge and create a delicious pizza recipe with a difference &#8211; the recipe that will captivate the panel of internationally-recognised chefs who will judge the recipes on their originality, balance, creativity, and, most importantly, on their \u201cexcitement factor\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>About 30 finalists will be selected and invited to recreate their recipes at the nail-biting cook-off at Hostex, in Johannesburg, in March.<\/p>\n<p>This year pizza-lovers are also invited to join in the action by encouraging their local pizzeria to enter the Global Pizza Challenge.
