{"id":79485,"date":"2015-01-28T08:40:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-28T06:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/79485\/ekurhulenis-potholes-grow-like-weeds\/"},"modified":"2015-01-28T08:48:25","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T06:48:25","slug":"ekurhulenis-potholes-grow-like-weeds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2015\/01\/28\/ekurhulenis-potholes-grow-like-weeds\/","title":{"rendered":"Ekurhuleni\u2019s potholes grow like weeds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Potholes are taking over the streets of Ekurhuleni.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite numerous requests by councillors to have the potholes repaired, the metro\u2019s roads and storm water department cannot appoint contractors because almost all of their senior staff have been suspended pending disciplinary action,\u201d said Neil Campbell MPL, DA Gauteng shadow MEC for roads and transport.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cCoupled with this, the department claims that bitumen is unobtainable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Campbell added that as a result, cold asphalt is being used to &#8216;repair&#8217;
