The IEB matric results were released at midnight, last Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Many private school students waited in anticipation to find out if they had passed the year and, students of Germiston\u2019s St Catherine\u2019s School and Assumption Convent, were no exception.<\/p>

St Catherine\u2019s School achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, with 32 distinctions in total and 75 per cent of the school\u2019s students attaining a degree pass.<\/p>\n

Of the 36 pupils, 28 achieved a degree pass and the remaining eight students received a diploma pass.<\/p>

\u201cThis means that every St Catherine\u2019s student has qualified to apply to study at a tertiary institution,\u201d explained Joanne Crosby, principal of St Catherine\u2019s School.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very pleased with the results.\u201d<\/p>\n

Assumption Convent achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, with 90 distinctions in total and 98 per cent of the school\u2019s students passing with a degree pass.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur school achieved 90 distinctions,” said Neville Workman, principal of Assumption Convent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis amounts to an average of two distinctions per pupil.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very pleased with the results.\u201d<\/p>\n

The top three achieves of St Catherine\u2019s School were: Mpumelelo Nhlapo (with seven distinctions), Neo Phahla (with four distinctions) and Ryan James (with two distinctions).<\/p>\n

The top three achieves of Assumption Convent were: Claudia Bakker, Jennifer Luke and Ntaoleng Mokotini, each with six distinctions.<\/p>\n
