but what else are you meant to do with it?<\/p>\n<p>Here are some suggestions on what to do with this year&#8217;s leftover wine.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Freeze cubes of leftover wine and save them for recipes that call for vino or consolidate half-consumed bottles to<\/p>\n<p>make a\u00a0boozy syrup\u00a0that you can drizzle over waffles, ice cream, pound cake, ricotta, or fruit.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Find the recipes for the syrups below:<\/p>\n<h4>Leftover red wine syrup<\/h4>\n<p>Hands-on time: 5 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Total time: 2 hours (includes cooling time)<\/p>\n<p>Makes: 1 cup<br \/>\n<strong>What you need:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 orange<\/li>\n<li>1 bottle red wine (or 3\u00bd cups assorted red wines)<\/li>\n<li>1 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>6 cloves<\/li>\n<li>1 cinnamon stick<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What you do next:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Using a vegetable peeler, remove strips of orange zest from the orange.<\/p>\n<p>In a large saucepan, combine the wine, sugar, cloves, cinnamon stick, and orange zest.<\/p>\n<p>Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the wine mixture is thickened and reduced to 1 cup, 35 to 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Remove cinnamon stick and orange zest.<\/p>\n<p>Let cool for 15 minutes, then refrigerate until chilled (the syrup will thicken as it cools).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Serving suggestions: <\/strong>serve with ice cream, yogurt, ricotta, pound cake, waffles, pancakes, or fruit.<\/p>\n<h4>Leftover white wine syrup<\/h4>\n<p>Hands-on time: 5 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Total time: 2 hours (includes cooling time)<\/p>\n<p>Makes: 1 cup<\/p>\n<p><strong>You will need:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 vanilla bean<\/li>\n<li>1 bottle white wine (or 3\u00bd cups assorted white wines)<\/li>\n<li>1 cup sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What you do next:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds.<\/p>\n<p>In a large saucepan, combine the wine, sugar, and vanilla seeds and pod.<\/p>\n<p>Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the wine mixture is slightly thickened and reduced to 1 cup, 35 to 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Remove the vanilla pod.<\/p>\n<p>Let cool for 15 minutes, then refrigerate
