Clinic celebrates World Aids Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Life Roseacres Clinic celebrated international World Aids Day, last Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The staff of the hospital were treated to a talk by Dimakatso Mookodi, who has been living with HIV since she was 22 years old.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"World Aids Day1\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4iibCMxlfq0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old wife and mother finds it important to share her life with nursing staff.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cYou offer pre-counselling and post-counselling when someone is tested for HIV, but you seldom hear how the patient has gone on to live their life with HIV,\u201d she said in opening.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"World Aids Day2\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yfWlwMnG2bw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Mookodi went on to explain how she had been living for the last 12 years, including her worries of giving birth.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout her presentation she tried to show the importance of both knowing and sharing your status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to get rid of the stigmatism attached to being HIV-positive,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is this stigmatism that causes people to hide their status from those around them and, in the heat of passion, this can lead to regrets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never wanted to infect anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mookodi closed off the talk with her hope for the near future: \u201cZero new infections, that it what we need to
