{"id":73118,"date":"2014-11-11T10:43:49","date_gmt":"2014-11-11T08:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/73118\/senzos-murder-accused-walks-free\/"},"modified":"2014-11-11T12:28:19","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T10:28:19","slug":"senzos-murder-accused-walks-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2014\/11\/11\/senzos-murder-accused-walks-free\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;The right man&#8221; walks free"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The man who was arrested last month and charged for the <a title=\"murder\" href=\"http:\/\/boksburgadvertiser.co.za\/213335\/breaking-meyiwas-murder-suspect-arrested-appeared-court\/\" target=\"_blank\">murder of Meyiwa<\/a> was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Boksburg Magistrates&#8217; Court this morning, but the case was withdrawn in <em>absentia<\/em> of the accused.<\/p>\n<p>Police on Monday, November 3, said they were <a title=\"murder\" href=\"http:\/\/boksburgadvertiser.co.za\/213780\/senzo-meyiwa-murder-right-man-saps\/\" target=\"_blank\">confident the man arrested<\/a> in connection with the murder of Bafana Bafana captain Meyiwa played a part in the crime.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Divisional Commissioner of Detective Services, Lieut-Gen Vinesh Moonoo told reporters that the police remain confident the accused,\u00a0 Zanokuhle Mbatha, is linked to the crime, and they have &#8220;the right man&#8221;. At the time, it also appeared that he would\u00a0be charged with murder and robbery.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, it was\u00a0revealed that two people, and not three, were involved in the shooting on\u00a0Sunday, October 26.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;By all accounts it was a robbery that went wrong,&#8221; said Moonoo.<\/p>\n<p>It was initially claimed that two people entered the house and a third stayed outside.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"murder\" href=\"http:\/\/boksburgadvertiser.co.za\/212641\/tribute-to-meyiwa-and-mulaudzi\/\" target=\"_blank\">Meyiwa<\/a>, also captain of Orlando Pirates, was killed in Vosloorus while visiting his singer and actress, girlfriend Kelly Khumalo.<\/p>\n<p>The police also revealed they had detained and questioned 13 people with regard to the killing of Meyiwa. This, however, has led to only one arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Mbatha first appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate\u2019s Court on Friday, October 31. The matter was then postponed to today, November 11.<\/p>\n<p>Moonoo said on November 3, police were at a stage where they could focus on a court-driven investigation and follow up on other leads.<\/p>\n<p>South African Police Service broke the news of his death via Twitter, stating the need to move away from protocol in confirming his death.<\/p>\n<p>A detailed report will follow shortly.<\/p>\n<div class=\"stream-item stream-item-below-post-content\">\n<div class='tenancy_slot tenancy_slot_1 jannah_ad' style='display: none;' data-query-id='41991f9319fdb7a61308da780946f92b'><\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Boksburg Magistrates&#8217; Court has this morning withdrawn the case involving the man accused of killing Senzo Meyiwa.
