{"id":71605,"date":"2014-10-27T15:15:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-27T13:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/71605\/a-melodious-tribute-to-tambo\/"},"modified":"2014-10-27T10:15:07","modified_gmt":"2014-10-27T08:15:07","slug":"a-melodious-tribute-to-tambo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/lifestyle-news\/entertainment-news\/2014\/10\/27\/a-melodious-tribute-to-tambo\/","title":{"rendered":"A melodious tribute to Tambo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The second instalment of the Ekurhuleni Melting Pot Choral Festival recently took Carnival City by storm.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71607\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71607\" style=\"width: 423px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2014\/10\/43GCNENERTAINMENTT_590189227.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-71607\" src=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2014\/10\/43GCNENERTAINMENTT_590189227-423x317.jpg\" alt=\"Gauteng choristers took to the stage, accompanied by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, for their opera rendition.\" width=\"423\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2014\/10\/43GCNENERTAINMENTT_590189227-423x317.jpg 423w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2014\/10\/43GCNENERTAINMENTT_590189227-200x150.jpg 200w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2014\/10\/43GCNENERTAINMENTT_590189227.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 423px) 100vw, 423px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71607\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gauteng choristers took to the stage, accompanied by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, for their opera rendition.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The event brought together South Africa&#8217;s 10 best choirs, who battled it out for the number one spot, and the chance to win the grand prize of R500 000.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>This year&#8217;s competition also saw cash prizes being awarded for the Best African Rendition and for the Best Opera Rendition.<\/p>\n<p>SA Singers were named winners of the Best African Rendition category, with the Best Choral Rendition awarded to the Kopano Chorus.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Monti Tshepo Manamela, of the Kopano Chorus, was named the Best Conductor for both days.<\/p>\n<p>He was awarded R15 000, as well as a one-year scholarship contract with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a joyous day for us as a choir, our hard work and dedication have yielded results for us,&#8221;
