In most parts of the developing world they participate in crop production and livestock care, provide food, water and fuel for their families, and engage in off-farm activities to diversify their families\u2019 livelihoods. In addition, they carry out vital functions in caring for children, older persons and the sick.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.farmingfirst.org\" target=\"_blank\">Farming First<\/a>, a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness around agricultural development, have created an infographic which highlights the importance of rural women in the farming sector.
