{"id":70078,"date":"2014-10-07T08:30:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-07T06:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/70078\/boksburg-bids-farewell-to-theuns\/"},"modified":"2014-10-07T09:08:41","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T07:08:41","slug":"boksburg-bids-farewell-to-theuns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2014\/10\/07\/boksburg-bids-farewell-to-theuns\/","title":{"rendered":"Community bids farewell to Theuns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Boksburg community suffered a great loss after the death of 19-year-old Theuns van As.<\/p>\n<p>The Beyers Park resident died on September 25, after he was involved in a helicopter crash in Driehoek.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The incident occurred when the Matrix Vehicle Tracking helicopter, operated by Henley Air, which was returning from a recovery, crashed, resulting in the death of Theuns and the pilot, Xenia Joubert.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the crash is still unknown.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Theuns, who was born and grew up in Boksburg, worked for Matrix as an air tracker.<\/p>\n<p>His father, also Theuns van As, described his son as an angel who was always friendly to everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Since his death, the Ho\u00ebrskool Oosterlig\u2019s Facebook page has been inundated with messages about the teenager.<\/p>\n<p>A funeral service was held for Theuns at Ho\u00ebrskool Oosterlig, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facebook messages:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Susan Geldenhuis: Theuns hulle se helikopter het by die Randse Lughawe neergestort.<\/p>\n<p>Carina Viljoen: Ai, dis hartseer om iemand te verloor wat so groot impak op mense se lewens gemaak het.
