Following the helicopter crash this afternoon (Thursday) MiX Telematics released the following statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cMiX Telematics are aware of the incident that took place this afternoon and we confirm that the crashed helicopter was a Matrix Vehicle Tracking helicopter, operated by Henley Air,\u201d said Brendan Horan, managing director of MiX Telematics Africa.<\/p>
\u201cThe incident occurred North of Rand Airport in Germiston, whilst returning from a recovery, resulting in the fatality of two individuals.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is certainly a terrible tragedy and our sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and colleagues of the respective people who lost their lives,\u201d Horan continued.<\/p>
\u201cWe take incidents of this nature very seriously.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is on the scene investigating the cause and details relating to the incident, for further clarification.<\/p>\n
\u201cUntil such a time that we have further information we will not be making any comments \u2013 as to respect the privacy of the families involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, we will be sure to effectively communicate any updates as and when relevant,\u201d Horan concluded.<\/p>\n
