girl dies in hospital after being hit by a car in Knights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Germiston City News received an email from Bekifa Sambo, claiming that a young girl between the ages of eight and nine had recently been hit by a motor vehicle, while on her way home from school.<\/p>\n<p>Sambo explained that the incident took place when the child was walking from Germiston to the Makause informal settlement.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The GCN approached the EMPD\u2019s media liaison office Kobeli Mokheseng for more information on the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe accident occurred at 4pm on Monday, September 15, in the Knights area,\u201d confirmed Mokheseng.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cA 30-year-old woman, driving a charcoal Ford Fiesta, and her 26-year-old passenger were travelling on Keswick Road, towards Primrose, when they knocked over the young girl as the crossed Stores Road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe driver and passenger were taken to the Life Rose Acres Clinic and the Bertha Gxowa Hospital, respectively, for medical treatment for the slight injuries they sustained in the accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe minor was rushed to the Thambo Memorial Hospital with serious injuries,\u201d explained Mokheseng.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe driver alleged that the young girl crossed the roadway unsafely before the accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe said that, due to a state of shock caused by hitting the young girl, she drove into a tree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat Tuesday, September 16, a case of reckless and negligent driving opened against the driver was changed to one of culpable homicide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was done after we learned that, sadly, the schoolgirl passed on while in hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGermiston SAPS detectives are currently investigating the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"stream-item
