paddler conquers Fish River training race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Victoria Lake Canoe Club&#8217;s (VLC) Richard Cele attended the Watuni High Performance Klip Race, hosted by the Watuni Canoe Club, based on the Vaal River, in Vanderbijlpark, on September 13.<\/p>\n<p>The race served as a training event for the Hansa Fish River Marathon, which will be a K1 championship this year, in mid-October.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Cele easily won the 20km race, from Henley-on-Klip to Meyerton, in one hour, 26 minutes, despite the low winter water levels, finishing nearly a minute ahead of the first double canoe.<\/p>\n<p>The local canoeist, who coaches and trains the youth development teams of canoeists at VLC, originated from the Dusi Valley, where he was a successful participant in the Change of Life programme for the youth of the valley and learnt to paddle on the Dusi River.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The VLC paddler is looking forward to the 80km wild water, with a guaranteed water release, on the Fish River, in Cradock.<\/p>\n<div class=\"stream-item stream-item-below-post-content\">\n<div class='tenancy_slot tenancy_slot_1 jannah_ad' style='display: none;'
