EMPD women officers recently invaded Katlehong in the form of high visibility patrols, stop-and-searches and both static and roving roadside checks.<\/p>\n

These measures impacted positively on the attitudes of most of the motorists in the area.<\/p>

The commander of the operation, Supt Nina Lynch, examines a driver’s licence during the recent EMPD women’s roving roadblock.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“During the operation, which took place over two days, eight mini-buses were found to be unroadworthy and were discontinued from using public roads, while five other vehicles were impounded for being in a dismal state, which was deemed to be unsafe for road-users,” said EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago.<\/p>\n

“On both days, from morning to late afternoon, the no-nonsense women officers managed to bring order and good behaviour to Katlehong in terms of both crime and irresponsible conduct on the roads.”<\/p>

Over 60 citations were issued for various offences, including defects on vehicles, as well as for invalid documentation.<\/p>\n

The next round of this special operation will take place soon, in an area already identified.<\/p>\n
