The Reach For Your Slippers concept was developed by The Hardy Boys ad agency to help create awareness and generate funds for the Reach For A Dream Foundation.<\/p>\n

The campaign is an annual initiative to encourage people to wear their slippers to work\/school for one day to show their support for children fighting life-threatening illnesses, through purchasing a Slipper Day sticker.<\/p>

Over the past 26 years the Reach For A Dream Foundation has been fulfilling the dreams of children fighting life-threatening illnesses.<\/p>\n

The work of Reach For A Dream enables children to experience a fun aspect of life, which they often don’t get to participate in because of their illness.<\/p>

It also inspires hope and courage and helps them believe that tomorrow is worth fighting for.<\/p>\n

This year’s campaign tickles one’s imagination with an illustrated background showing off the Slipper Day ambassadors in their slippers and “Dream Children”.<\/p>\n

One such “Dream Child” is Bradley Mancer, who is an 11-year-old boy from Germiston.<\/p>\n

Bradley loves anything to do with speed, cars and bikes.<\/p>\n

He is car crazy and his dream was to go for a ride in a turbo charged VW Golf GTI.<\/p>\n

Germiston resident Bradley Mancer’s dream came true recently thanks to the Reach For A Dream Foundation, when he got the chance to ride in his dream car, a turbo charged VW Golf GTI. He urges the community to support the Reach For Your Slippers campaign so that other children with life-threatening illnesses can also have their dreams made into a reality.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Reach For A Dream organised for Bradley and his whole family to be picked up from their home in the fastest Golf in the country, recently.<\/p>\n

He also got the opportunity to be driven in a race car where they reached speeds of 250km an hour.<\/p>\n

As an added highlight, a picnic was organised, where he was presented with gifts.<\/p>\n

Bradley got to experience the thrill of going for a ride in one of his favourite cars, as well as the rush of driving in a race car.<\/p>\n

On top of this, the whole family was made a part of this experience.<\/p>\n

Turning dreams into photographs – a memorable day had by all.<\/p>\n

All you need to do to help children like Bradley is buy a R10 sticker and wear your slippers to work, school, the shops – or wherever you want – to show your support for Reach For A Dream on August 1.<\/p>\n

If you are unable to wear your slippers, then wear your sticker with pride.<\/p>\n

By doing this, you are helping to fulfil dreams for children in hospitals and homes across South Africa.<\/p>\n

Join the rest of South Africa by wearing your slippers on August 1.<\/p>\n

Stickers are available from your local Wimpy, Hirsch’s Meadowdale and Makro Germiston stores and your nearest Reach For A Dream branch.<\/p>\n

Hirsch’s Meadowdale will also be giving one lucky school a R1 000 Hirsch’s voucher for the school which buys the most stickers in support of this amazing cause.<\/p>\n

“We invite local businesses to participate, as well as the public,” said Wesley Morris, public relations officer for Hirsch’s Meadowdale.<\/p>\n
