{"id":58665,"date":"2014-04-29T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-04-29T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/58665\/metro-accepts-public-protectors-investigation\/"},"modified":"2014-04-29T09:18:03","modified_gmt":"2014-04-29T07:18:03","slug":"metro-accepts-public-protectors-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2014\/04\/29\/metro-accepts-public-protectors-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"Metro accepts public protector&#8217;s investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The metro is said to have welcomed the investigation, by the public protector, into alleged tender irregularities linked to the metro&#8217;s city manager Khaya Ngema.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a metro we take these matters serious and will fully co-operate with the public protector&#8217;s office during the investigation,&#8221; said Mandlakazi Mpahlwa-Sigcawu, the metro&#8217;s divisional head of media relations.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Furthermore we will be accepting of the findings of this investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the metro&#8217;s key strategic priorities is good governance, which is clearly shows our intention to get rid of any sort of corruption in this metro.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;We already have a good working relationship with the SIU, because we are committed to fighting the scourge of fraud and corruption in our city.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Mpahlwa-Sigcawu went on to explain the metro&#8217;s supply chain management processes to the public.<\/p>\n<p>This process is guided by the National Treasury:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0All tenders above R200 000 are advertised and subjected to a competitive bidding process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0The Bid Evaluation Committee evaluates the bids made and makes its recommendations to the Bid Adjudication Committee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0The Bid Adjudication Committee then adjudicates the bids, and if it&#8217;s less than R10-million they make the final award.
