{"id":56083,"date":"2014-03-31T12:30:00","date_gmt":"2014-03-31T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/56083\/players-make-progress-at-club\/"},"modified":"2014-03-31T13:06:16","modified_gmt":"2014-03-31T11:06:16","slug":"players-make-progress-at-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/sports-news\/2014\/03\/31\/players-make-progress-at-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Players make progress at club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ekurhuleni Tennis School of Excellence held one of their monthly junior tournaments at the Germiston Stadium, on March 15.<\/p>\n<p>The juniors played only singles, and the boys played with the girls, as this helps them to get out of their comfort zones and gives them a bit of a challenge.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;These monthly tournaments improve the skills of the players and, another thing I like about the children, is that they look forward to these tournaments and treat them like any other competition,&#8221; said head coach of the club Loyiso Matsha.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Their enthusiasm enables us, as their coaches, to judge their performances.&#8221;<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Matsha has already spotted some of the strengths of the players.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dian Dreyer excelled at the tournament,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This youngster has been playing tennis for a year and his standard has improved tremendously; he has the ability to go all the way to higher levels.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All our players show increasing growth and I am happy with their performances and high morale.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The results of the tournament are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dian Dreyer -22 points.<\/li>\n<li>Tadiwanashe Chipfakacha -14 points.<\/li>\n<li>Martinique Davids -13 points.<\/li>\n<li>Jennah Davids &#8211; 4 points.<\/li>\n<li>Jaydan Rooskrantz &#8211; 8 points.<\/li>\n<li>Sethembile Myeni &#8211; 8 points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other news, the club will host a tennis clinic at the Germiston Stadium, on March 31 and April 1.<\/p>\n<p>Beginners and intermediate players, aged seven to 14, are welcome, and the fee for both days is R100 a player.<\/p>\n<p>To round off the clinic, a mini tournament will be played and prizes are up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p>To secure a position at the clinic contact Matsha before or on March 30.<\/p>\n<p>Skills and techniques players can expect to learn and enjoy, at both the clinic and the club, are tennis etiquette and good tennis manners; control points of all the basic strokes; physical training; technical and tactical training; rules of tennis; water intake and recommended nutrition; tennis general knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>The club is always open to new players;
