{"id":255755,"date":"2020-05-07T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-07T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/255755\/zoe-helps-families-in-need-during-covid-19-pandemic\/"},"modified":"2020-05-06T14:48:11","modified_gmt":"2020-05-06T12:48:11","slug":"zoe-helps-families-in-need-during-covid-19-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2020\/05\/07\/zoe-helps-families-in-need-during-covid-19-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"Zo\u00eb helps families in need during Covid-19 pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Elspark resident Zo\u00eb Fuller may only be 13 years old but she has a heart of gold.<\/p>\n<p>The youngster told the GCN she does not like to see people hurting and that is why she got involved with her school\u2019s feeding scheme.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The Grade Five Laerskool Elspark learner spends her first breaks handing out food to children in need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are about 50 children who need a meal every day at school,\u201d said Zo\u00eb.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI enjoy helping them and making sure they get something to eat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Zo\u00eb Fuller 13 encourages people to help others\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5DY5Qq1yArM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Zo\u00eb has also started a project at school where she collects cold drink bottle lids for the Sweetheart Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have two dustbins at school and people are encouraged to put the lids into them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI then collect them and sort them and when I have enough the foundation will be able to purchase a wheelchair for a person who needs one,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>When the schools closed early and the country went into lockdown, Zo\u00eb thought a lot about the children at school who were not receiving their daily meal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I heard that my father was flying his helicopter for The Covid Flight Lowveld and transporting food and medical supplies to those in need, I asked him if he could help,\u201d Zo\u00eb said.<\/p>\n<p>Zo\u00eb\u2019s father Charles did indeed help and organised a one-ton bakkie and a car loaded full of food for her.<\/p>\n<p>Zo\u00eb and her brother Enzo (11) then packed up the food into different parcels.<\/p>\n<p>They had enough to feed 26 needy families and the parcels were delivered to Laerskool Elspark for distribution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt made me feel good to be helping,\u201d Zo\u00eb said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t like it when people are hurt as I don\u2019t like being hurt myself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s nice to help people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"7020057060 - Melissa GCN Zoe Fuller Food Parcels\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K60QVH_tka0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
