{"id":244752,"date":"2020-04-02T09:45:37","date_gmt":"2020-04-02T07:45:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=244752"},"modified":"2020-04-02T10:12:26","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T08:12:26","slug":"covid-19-metro-closes-duduza-clinic-nurse-tests-positive-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2020\/04\/02\/covid-19-metro-closes-duduza-clinic-nurse-tests-positive-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid-19: Metro closes Duduza Clinic after nurse tests positive for Covid-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The metro closed the Duduza Clinic indefinitely on Wednesday after a nurse tested positive for Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>The facility and the surrounding area will be sanitised during the period of closure to kill any traces of the Covid-19 virus that may have survived on surfaces.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The nurse in question had attended a prayer breakfast at Divine Restoration Ministries in Ribblesdale, Bloemfontein, on March 10.<\/p>\n<p>The nurse underwent a polymerase chain reaction test for Covid-19 on March 30, after being identified as a contact of the Bloemfontein gathering.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The results were returned positive on March 31 and the nurse has subsequently been placed under quarantine and is currently under medical observation.<\/p>\n<p>Staff who work at the clinic and have displayed symptoms of Covid-19 have been tested and are currently in self-isolation as they await their test results.<\/p>\n<p>Staff who have not displayed symptoms have been placed on special leave to self-isolate\u00a0until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">ALSO READ:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/243196\/spca-animals-need-your-help-in-lockdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Covid-19: SPCA animals need your help in lockdown<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/244140\/needy-community-receives-sanitisers-ahead-of-lockdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Covid-19: Needy community receives sanitisers ahead of lockdown<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Potential contacts are currently being traced and will be tested for\u00a0Covid-19 to mitigate against community transmissions.<\/p>\n<p>Two mobile clinics will be deployed to the area to serve the community for the period of the closure.<\/p>\n<p>Staff from surrounding clinics will be deployed to the mobile clinics and\u00a0will be required to wear personal protective equipment and practice stringent hygiene\u00a0protocols when working with the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to call for calm within our communities as we respond to cases of\u00a0Covid-19 in and around Ekurhuleni.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is of the utmost importance is that we isolate the virus wherever it rears its ugly head,\u201d said Ekurhuleni\u2019s executive mayor Mzwandile Masina.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a City, we wish our nurse a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important that I reiterate that\u00a0the fastest way to avert community transmissions of Covid-19 is to stay home and adhere to the regulations of the 21-day nationwide lockdown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Masina was due to visit and inspect the mobile clinics in Duduza today (April 2).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>*Notice: Coronavirus reporting at Caxton Local Media aims to combat fake news<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Dear reader,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As your local news provider, we have the duty of keeping you factually informed on Covid-19 developments.
