SAVF Die Anker in Germiston South is doing all it can to ensure the safety of its elderly residents.<\/p>\n

The home has restricted all visitations and stopped all church services, gatherings and meetings.<\/p>

\u201cOur residents are of course allowed to go to hospital and doctor\u2019s appointments,\u201d said home manager Martie Otten.<\/p>\n

Strict safety measures have been implemented at Die Anker\u2019s entrance.<\/p>

\u201cWe are very strict about our entrance procedures for all staff, who are contracted through Carelife Wellness and Retirement, and anyone who makes an essential delivery to the home,\u201d explained Otten.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore entering, the staff or delivery person will have their hands sprayed with a sanitiser.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will then complete a form and receive a sticker, a different colour for each day, to show that they have completed the form.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will then have their hands sprayed once again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Residents\u2019 hygiene has also been stepped up.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt breakfast, lunch and dinner the residents\u2019 hands are sprayed before they enter the dining room,\u201d said Otten.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurthermore, all residents have been supplied with sanitiser spray bottles which we keep filled for them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have also supplied them with extra soap and encourage them to wash their hands as often as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

The home\u2019s residents recently received a lecture on Covid-19, so they are aware of the dangers and the preventative measures.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur staff wear masks and gloves at all times and surfaces are sanitised as often as possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are doing all we can to ensure the safety of our residents,\u201d said Otten.<\/p>\n
