targets drunk drivers in special operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EMPD Anti-Drunken Driving Unit members from specialised services conducted an operation in Katlehong, Elsburg and Vosloorus last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>During the operation 31 people were arrested.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cOn Thutong Road in Katlehong, between 4pm and midnight, last Friday, 10 allegedly intoxicated male drivers, between the ages of 29 and 41, were marched to the Katlehong Police Station after they failed a breathalyser\/alcometer test at a roadblock,\u201d said Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe highest reading recorded was 0.90mg\/l.\u201d<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The following day, between midnight and 8am, the EMPD team set up a roadblock in Moagi Street in Vosloorus.<\/p>\n<p>Here they also nabbed 10 alleged driving quiz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe highest reading recorded on an alcometer was 0.82mg\/l,\u201d said Mokheseng.<\/p>\n<p>The blitz continued last Sunday on Osborn Road in Elsburg, between 4pm and midnight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere 11 people, 10 males and one female, between the ages of 28 and 40, were handcuffed for allegedly being under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe highest reading recorded was 0.79mg\/l,\u201d said Mokheseng.<\/p>\n<p>All the arrestees are facing charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol and were booked at the Katlehong, Vosloorus and Elsburg police stations, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>They are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge and Germiston magistrate\u2019s courts soon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
