cemeteries are reaching capacity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ekurhuleni\u2019s cemeteries are approaching full capacity for new burials, with just 30 per cent of vacant burial space remaining across the metro.<\/p>\n<p>Phumulani Cemetery in Etwatwa, for example, was closed on February 29 due to non-availability of burial space for first interment.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>However, the cemetery remains ready for second and third interment in appropriate circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><div class=\"stream-item with the metro\u2019s cemetery and crematorium by-laws.<\/p>\n<p>The by-laws make provision for multiple interments in one grave on condition that an application has been made to the cemetery officer and written permission has been granted.<\/p>\n<p>Families who have arranged reserved graves can still bury on those spaces only if they can produce proof of reserved graves to cemetery
