Threats by protesters cause Germiston depots to close, service delivery affected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DA in Ekurhuleni is concerned that several depots in Germiston have been locked due to protest action, affecting service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>About 40 protesters have forced the depots to close, claiming they are sub-contractors and want to be appointed by the contractors.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt is confirmed that the energy department is locked down with threats that vehicles will be set alight if they try and continue with service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe protesters have also threatened violence,\u201d said Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSadly, residents who have been without electricity since Saturday and Sunday cannot get their electricity restored due to loose from the poles and then cut off at the ground, leaving residents without power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have escalated this matter to the relevant departments to ensure services continue to be rendered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot allow the City to be held hostage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ward 39 councillor Alta de Beer said as soon as any more information is available it will be
