tackle race to raise funds for research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dis-Chem Ride for Sight Cycle Challenge, held in partnership with the metro last Sunday, contributes to research on finding cures that can assist in restoring eyesight to over 100 000 people across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The 116km race was won by Dusty Day in a time of 2:34:14 and he was crowned the Dis-Chem Ride of Sight champion.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The event started and finished at Boksburg Stadium.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_231634\" is partially sighted, suffers from Stargardt disease, an eyesight condition that causes the degeneration of the central vision.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>He is an ardent cyclist who has represented the country at the Beijing Paralympics, a bronze medallist in track cycling and is part of Retina South Africa\u2019s clinical trials to find a cure to his ailment.<\/p>\n<p>Kilpatrick and his tandem partner, Andries van der Merwe, participated in the 66km race and finished in a time of 1:34:49.<\/p>\n<p>The Dis-Chem Ride for
