{"id":229320,"date":"2020-02-03T10:22:49","date_gmt":"2020-02-03T08:22:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=229320"},"modified":"2020-02-03T15:12:57","modified_gmt":"2020-02-03T13:12:57","slug":"alert-eskom-implements-stage-two-loadshedding-today-weekend-loadshedding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2020\/02\/03\/alert-eskom-implements-stage-two-loadshedding-today-weekend-loadshedding\/","title":{"rendered":"ALERT: Eskom implements stage two loadshedding again today, after weekend of loadshedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a weekend of loadshedding Eskom has asked residents to prepare for more, as stage two rotational loadshedding will be implemented from 9am today (Monday) until 6am on Thursday (February 6).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/POWER?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#POWER<\/a> ALERT 1<br \/>Date: 3 February 2020<\/p>\n<p>Stage 2 rotational loadshedding will be implemented from 09:00 today until Thursday at 06:00, with respite between 06:00 to 09:00 each day, when possible <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hWi9Bba5FQ\">pic.twitter.com\/hWi9Bba5FQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Eskom Hld SOC Ltd (@Eskom_SA) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Eskom_SA\/status\/1224227143439306754?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 3, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The company said in a statement that loadshedding was needed due to a shortage in generating capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The company also needed time to replenish emergency reserves.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<h4><strong>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a class=\"anchor_post\" href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/204331\/power-woes-continue-for-germiston-residents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Power woes continue for Germiston residents<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<div><strong>How do the different loadshedding stages work?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stage One<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"head-video\">Stage one is implemented when Eskom requests a loadshedding range from between 10MW to 300MW.<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIn this stage areas to be affected are divided into two equal load sizes to accommodate Eskom load reduction needs,\u201d Gadebe said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the metro schedule has eight areas in a block to be affected , only four of the eight areas may be affected on day one and the other remaining four areas will be affected on day two.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stage Two<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When stage two is declared, the metro\u2019s schedules are implemented in full.<\/p>\n<p>If there are eight areas in a block, all eight areas will be affected.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stage Three\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When Eskom\u2019s grid in under severe pressure stage three is implemented.<\/p>\n<div id=\"twenty_seventeen_advert_slider\">\u201cStage three is completely out of the metro\u2019s control and is implemented by Eskom to protect the national grid from collapsing and to avoid a blackout.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Loadshedding stages now range from stage one to eight.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-229321\" src=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2020\/02\/2014-Loadshedding-Germiston-Palm-Ridge-Custom-462x400-462x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"462\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2020\/02\/2014-Loadshedding-Germiston-Palm-Ridge-Custom-462x400.jpg 462w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2020\/02\/2014-Loadshedding-Germiston-Palm-Ridge-Custom-462x400-289x250.jpg 289w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 462px) 100vw, 462px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>To assist us in reducing the stage of loadshedding, Eskom appeals to customers to continue to use electricity sparingly by:<\/div>\n<div>\u2022Set air-conditioners to an average temperature of 23\u00baC.<br \/>\n\u2022Switch off geysers over peak periods.<br \/>\n\u2022Use the cold water tap rather than using hot water every time.<br \/>\n\u2022Set your swimming pool pump cycle to run twice a day, three hours at a time for optimal energy use.<br \/>\n\u2022At the end of the day, turn off computers, copiers, printers and fax machines at the switch.
