drivers arrested during Primrose and Alberton speed enforcement operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The EMPD Speed Law Enforcement Unit arrested seven drivers for non-compliance with regular speed limits last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The operations were conducted in Primrose and Alberton.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>In the first operation, which took place last Saturday between 5am and 8am on Kliprivier Road in the Brackendowns area, two motorists were arrested for clocking speeds of 117km\/h and 123km\/h, in an 80km\/h zone.<\/p>\n<p>In the first instance at 5.55am, a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi travelling from Johannesburg to Katlehong with 13 passengers was stopped and the 29-year-old male driver arrested for clocking 123km\/h in the 80km\/h zone.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>His excuse was that it was rush hour.<\/p>\n<p>The second apprehended driver, a 37-year-old male driving a VW Polo, was nabbed for excessively driving at 117km\/h, claiming he was late for work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span murdered, body found in Elsburg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Both drivers were booked at the Brackendowns Police Station.<\/p>\n<p>Last Sunday in the Primrose area, EMPD members conducted an operation between 6am and 11am on AG de Wet Road, between Main and North Reef roads.<\/p>\n<p>Five drivers were apprehended and taken to the Primrose Police Station for clocking between 98km\/h and 105km\/h in the 60km\/h zone.<\/p>\n<p>One of the arrestees was a 19-year-old male driver of a BMW sedan, who was arrested at 9.30am when he clocked 105km\/h, claiming he was late for church.<\/p>\n<p>A 23-year-old male driving a VW Golf registered 102km\/h and said he was rushing home.<\/p>\n<p>The three other arrestees were arrested for each registering speeds of 98km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>All seven arrested drivers are facing charges of reckless and negligent driving and they are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge and Germiston magistrate\u2019s courts
