careful in persistent rain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The persistent rainfall has led to flooding in parts of Gauteng.<\/p>\n<p>Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) is on high alert and echoed the South African Weather Services\u2019 (SAWS) flood warning to residents and motorists in Ekurhuleni.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt has been raining for the past week persistently and roads across the metro are slippery and flooding is imminent,\u201d said William Ntladi, district manager media liaison for DEMS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMotorists are advised to be on high alert while driving.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSome roads have potholes filled with rainwater making them very difficult to identify.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeep and large potholes may and can lead to fatal crashes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: lights before travelling to prevent accidents from happening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy so doing, lives could be saved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Communities in low laying areas are advised to be on high alert.<\/p>\n<p>The ground is saturated, and any drizzle experienced, may result in flooding.<\/p>\n<p>The tendency of people to cross streams using an inappropriate route such as water pipes erected across those streams is a dangerous practice which could lead to drowning.<\/p>\n<p>All 29 fir stations\u2019 firefighters and specialised rescue teams are ready to respond to any eventualities related to flooding.<\/p>\n<p>Monitoring and listening to weather reports from different media platforms, could be lifesaving.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
