Days of Activism: Women need to be educated to be empowered"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Women and children flocked to the Klopper Park Clinic last Friday to learn more about gender-based violence.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the day was Stop Violence Towards Women and Children and various stakeholders, including representatives from POWA, SANBS, EMPD, health promoters from Ekurhuleni and the Bedfordview SAPS, spoke to the assembled women about their rights and what they should do in the case of abuse.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The event was organised by Sister Monica Yaso, the health promoter at the Klopper Park Clinic.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Klopper Park Clinic holds gender stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cOur community is growing very well and now we also have an informal settlement in Elandsfontein which we service, which we haven\u2019t had before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe day was aimed at introducing our services to the community, as well as educating women regarding gender-based violence,\u201d said Monica.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must educate to empower.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKnowledge is power and women must know where to go to seek help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Connie Dlamini, a social auxiliary worker from POWA, explained the organisation\u2019s services SANBS.<\/p>\n<p>She explained the process of donating blood and who is allowed to donate.<\/p>\n<p>Sgt Ntswaki Modiga, from the Bedfordview SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit, urged the women to report any women or child abuse to their nearest police station.<\/p>\n<p>The women were invited to ask the stakeholders any questions they may have and contact them if they need
