Members of the Germiston SAPS Task Team were out patrolling last Tuesday at about 12.30pm when they spotted a suspicious-looking green Mazda double-cab bakkie in Voortrekker Street in the Germiston CBD.

The officers stopped the driver of the vehicle and asked the man if they could search it.

The confiscated dagga is worth about R30 000 on the streets.

The suspect also had an undisclosed amount of cash in his possession, which was also confiscated.

The dagga and the cash were booked in at the Germiston Police Station.

The man was due to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

While the officers were busy searching the bakkie, they received a call from one of their informers that there was someone selling dagga at the Germiston Taxi Rank.

“When they arrived they went to look for the man matching the description given to them.

“They located the man, aged between 40 and 50 years, and asked to search him,” said Mabunda.

“The officers found a plastic bag full of dagga, as well as R600 in the man’s possession.”
