takes centre stage in new show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The unusual, but hilarious comedy show, <em>A Hair Thingy<\/em>, unravels at Carnival City\u2019s Mardi Gras Theatre on October 27.<\/p>\n<p>The struggles of hair, as told by Rudy Bessit, are portrayed in this English and Afrikaans coloured \u201cvernacular\u201d one-man comedy show where the main character, Aunty B, speaks of the struggles she (and so many other coloured families) experience daily with hair.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Aunty B is a coloured woman with straight hair and is married to Daniel, a coloured man with curly hair.<\/p>\n<p>Their two daughters, Spungee and Priscilla, both have curly hair like their father and Aunty B is having a tough time dealing with it.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span as this is the one thing a majority of the households always end up discussing and laughing about.<\/p>\n<p>The underlying message of this show is one which encourages self-love, acceptance of oneself
