{"id":218784,"date":"2019-09-25T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/218784\/let-your-true-self-shine-through\/"},"modified":"2019-09-25T18:32:24","modified_gmt":"2019-09-25T16:32:24","slug":"let-your-true-self-shine-through","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2019\/09\/25\/let-your-true-self-shine-through\/","title":{"rendered":"Heal yourself and show your truth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>She has a vision and she is doing everything in her power to bring it to fruition.<\/p>\n<p>Dynamic Andile Shozi (29), founder of non-profit organisation Unbridle Your Sparkle, said her main aim is to create a sisterhood of healing and a community of women who will assist each other and offer a safe space where people can be free to talk.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Originally from Durban, Andile moved to Lambton in 2013 and is studying towards becoming a chartered accountant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn between work and studying I started Unbridle Your Sparkle,\u201d she said.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI believe that the Holy Spirit dropped the idea into my spirit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea has been inside me for a number of years but I was always fearful to initiate it and thought I would fail.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_218785\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-218785\" style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-218785\" src=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/09\/38GCNGENERALANDI_26285-520x390.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2019\/09\/38GCNGENERALANDI_26285-520x390.jpg 520w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2019\/09\/38GCNGENERALANDI_26285-270x203.jpg 270w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2019\/09\/38GCNGENERALANDI_26285-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net\/local_newspapers\/sites\/31\/2019\/09\/38GCNGENERALANDI_26285.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-218785\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Women enjoy themselves at one of Unbridle Your Sparkle\u2019s recent events.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Andile added that she has always attracted youngsters to her, who would sit down and open up to her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of the conversations I had with them went back to abuse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis opened my eyes a bit more to the problems we are facing,\u201d said Andile.<\/p>\n<p>Andile decided to host her first event, which she funded herself, in September, last year.<\/p>\n<p>At the event she launched her organisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat makes my organisation different to other women empowerment organisations is the fact that we do not just have speakers who discuss a topic and then when the women leave they go back to the same situation,\u201d Andile said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe gather around and we have a conversation with each other where everyone is encouraged to speak their truth and get in touch with their true identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also encourage women to support each other and not \u2018hate\u2019 on one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"7019097128 - Melissa Germiston Unbridle Your Sparkle by Germiston City News\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?visual=true&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F684008909&#038;show_artwork=true&#038;maxheight=750&#038;maxwidth=500\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Once the event is over, it does not stop there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day our mission is to heal what has been broken and we go on to arrange counselling, tutors and more for those who need it and basically walk the journey to healing with the individual, helping wherever it is needed,\u201d said Andile.<\/p>\n<p>There is a WhatsApp group and one-on-one sessions are held, as well as catch-up sessions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes people just need someone to listen to them without judgement,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Andile believes that sharing her own story of emotional abuse also helps in the healing of others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen women share their stories it helps to heal others,\u201d said Andile.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWomen also need to understand that abuse is not only physical or sexual. It can also be emotional or mental.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The young woman is planning on visiting schools in Germiston to gather young girls around her to speak to them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">ALSO READ:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/218726\/zumbathon-held-to-raise-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\">Zumbathon held to raise funds for Rest-a-While<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/218789\/enough-is-enough-say-vryburger-learners\/\" target=\"_blank\">Enough is enough say Vryburger learners<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is sometimes very difficult for them to come out and say something so I want them to feel comfortable to talk about things,\u201d said Andile.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to look at the root cause of problems and work from there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a lot of healing that needs to be done in our society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unbridle Your Sparkle has a group of over 30 women who discuss matters and assist each other.<\/p>\n<p>All generations of women are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy vision is to have an Unbridle Your Sparkle group in every suburb of the country,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople must understand that this is a community. It felt amazing,\u201d Andile said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am learning that I have a gift and I love to help people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love teaching and I love women and what I am doing with the organisation
