{"id":218733,"date":"2019-09-23T12:45:09","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T10:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=218733"},"modified":"2019-10-14T11:36:14","modified_gmt":"2019-10-14T09:36:14","slug":"its-september-and-we-have-to-braai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/lifestyle-news\/2019\/09\/23\/its-september-and-we-have-to-braai\/","title":{"rendered":"It\u2019s September and we have to braai"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve also created recipes that\u2019ll up your braai game.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Steak, mushroom and baby potato kebabs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Makes eight kebabs<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>16 baby potatoes.<\/li>\n<li>500g Portabellini mushrooms.<\/li>\n<li>400g rump, rib eye or sirloin steak, sliced into three centimetres cubes.<\/li>\n<li>Two lemons.<\/li>\n<li>A quarter cup parsley, finely chopped.<\/li>\n<li>A quarter cup oregano, finely chopped.<\/li>\n<li>A quarter cup basil, finely chopped.<\/li>\n<li>A quarter cup olive oil.<\/li>\n<li>Salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>One clove garlic, minced.<\/li>\n<li>One tablespoon red wine vinegar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to do:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prepare your braai and allow coals or wood to burn down, or preheat a gas braai on medium.<\/p>\n<p>In heavily salted water parboil the baby potatoes. Once tender, drain and set aside to steam dry.<\/p>\n<p>In a large bowl combine the mushrooms, steak cubes, juice of one lemon, parsley, oregano, basil, olive oil, garlic, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<p>Add in the cooked potatoes. Toss to fully, cover the steak and mushrooms. Allow to marinade in the fridge for one hour.<\/p>\n<p>On a long kebab stick alternate the potatoes, mushrooms and steak pieces. Braai the kebabs until desired level of doneness of the meat. Braai the second lemon alongside them until charred.
