urges customers to conserve water during valve installation work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The metro urges residents to utilise water sparingly as water supply to customers is anticipated to be reduced until June 27 due to Rand Water conducting valve installation on the main supply pipeline, which supplies the metro with water.<\/p>\n<p>This is being done in order to strengthen water infrastructure to ensure future water security.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The metro anticipates low water pressure in high-lying areas should the Rand Water reservoirs run low during the maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>As such, businesses and residents are cautioned to conserve water and implement immediate water-saving measures in order to avoid complete depletion of supply.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>All businesses that use water for production are urged to lower the production and to keep their storage tanks full.<\/p>\n<p>This will assist the metro in keeping the storage reservoirs at maximum capacity and prevent a situation where water between June 24 and 27<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The metro has undertaken various interventions to resolve the issue of water security in the long run.<\/p>\n<p>Among these is the Aqua Leap project, which aims at increasing the capacity of reservoirs across Ekurhuleni.<\/p>\n<p>The Aqua Leap project will ensure that demand is met by the supply.<\/p>\n<p>The metro\u2019s current water storage is 958ML and the average water demand is 963ML per day.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-four reservoirs have been approved for construction, and of these, construction of nine has begun.<\/p>\n<p>All the reservoirs are presently stable and all areas have water.<\/p>\n<p>The metro is monitoring all reservoirs, and water tankers are on standby should any areas experience a water
