William Ntladi, district manager media liaison for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), has confirmed that the N3 South is closed to traffic following a multi-vehicle collision\u00a0near the Barry Marais off-ramp.<\/p>\n
Speaking from the scene, which is still active,\u00a0Ntladi explained that six trucks and four light motor vehicles (including a taxi and bakkie) were involved in the accident.<\/p>
“Nine people have been declared dead, while 14 patients have been transported to various hospitals with serious injuries,”\u00a0Ntladi said.<\/p>\n
Motorists are urged to avoid the area.<\/p>
“We are diverting traffic from the Leondale Road off-ramp,” Ntladi said.<\/p>\n
Emergency services are still on scene.<\/p>\n
