Economic growth is expected to be less than 1.7 per cent this year.

Rising electricity costs, labour demands, and political uncertainty are all contributing factors, however with it being an election year, it is the political environment that is expected to play a major role in how businesses perform.

There are ways that you can ‘election-proof’ your business in order to limit the effect of the elections.

In fact, implementing these strategies can even help transform your business and increase profits.

“Uncertainty is often an unlikely and unexpected breeding ground for opportunity,” said business coach Bert Weenink.

“Adopting a positive attitude, streamlining processes and persevering can help differentiate you from your competitors particularly in a difficult market.”

Many business owners will be thinking that spending money on anything right now is dangerous – even careless.

This line of thinking is counterproductive – having a carefully planned proactive approach is one of the best possible strategies to take when the economy is under pressure.

The right approach is to manage your business finances more astutely than ever, evaluating where to spend and where to cut down to remain or even become more profitable.

Focusing on projects with a good ROI is key.
