{"id":200151,"date":"2019-04-02T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-02T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/200151\/enjoy-an-evening-of-fun-and-laughs\/"},"modified":"2019-04-02T14:54:19","modified_gmt":"2019-04-02T12:54:19","slug":"enjoy-an-evening-of-fun-and-laughs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/lifestyle-news\/entertainment-news\/2019\/04\/02\/enjoy-an-evening-of-fun-and-laughs\/","title":{"rendered":"Enjoy an evening of fun and laughs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Comedy stalwarts Mel Miller, Tony Stewart and Tony De King have overwhelmed South Africans with laughter for decades and are heading to Carnival City to treat fans to an evening of winning traditional comedy.<\/p>\n<p>Catch them live on stage for A Night of Laughter with Legends at Bru\u2019s on April 18.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<h4>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/200259\/stand-a-chance-to-win-a-set-of-double-tickets-to-the-rand-show\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stand a chance to win a set of double tickets to the Rand Show<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Mel Miller began his career as a comedian in 1963 with friend Mel Green, performing as a comedy duo called Mel and Mel.<\/p>\n<p>Along with backing guitarist, Julian Laxton, they cut their first comedy LP and were signed to perform at the Edward Hotel in Durban on a two-year contract.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The rest is hilarious history.<\/p>\n<p>Joining Miller at Carnival City is his fellow Biltong and Pot Roast comedian, Tony Stewart.<\/p>\n<p>Described as being \u201ca genius at being hilarious\u201d Stewart is known to blend British and South African humour quite well.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart joined the circus at 15 in Scotland where Jimmy Logan, the comedian from the great Scottish Logan family, put him on stage at just 17 at the famous Metrapole Theatre in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>His career grew from there.<\/p>\n<p>By 1976 he was one of the most popular people in television in South Africa and when Sun International hotel magnate Sol Kerzner spotted Stewart, he started doing stand-up shows in every Sun International hotel, including the famous Sun City Superbowl six times.<\/p>\n<p>Considered \u201cthe godfather of comedy\u201d Stewart has made people clench their sides with laughter all over South Africa and the UK with his classic style of comedy.<\/p>\n<h4>ALSO READ:\u00a0<strong><a class=\"anchor_post\" href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/197658\/rand-show-celebrates-125-years-of-flair\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rand Show celebrates 125 years of flair<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The line-up would be incomplete without the third absolute legend in comedy \u2013 Tony De King. Born and bred in Britain, \u201cD King\u201d, as he is better known, has an international background, including extensive British television and radio experience.<\/p>\n<p>He also spent two years on tour throughout the USA alongside various famous artists.<\/p>\n<p>What makes De King\u2019s performances noteworthy is that they offer clean stand-up comedy.<\/p>\n<p>This hilarious comedian has earned a reputation for his natural British sense of humour, charisma and his unique knack for hilarious banter and ad lib.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat an honour to host three genuine comedy legends on one
