During a recent operation in the Makause informal settlement, the Primrose police closed down two illegal taverns, confiscated volumes of alcohol and arrested two suspects, aged 25 and 32 years respectively.<\/p>\n
The men were arrested on a charge of dealing in liquor without a licence.<\/p>
\u201cOfficers from the Primrose Police Station entered the settlement on foot to patrol.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the patrol, they noticed residents buying and drinking liquor at two separate taverns,\u201d explained communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome.<\/p>
They approached the owners of each tavern, introduced themselves and asked for the owners\u2019 liquor licences.<\/p>\n
\u201cNone of the owners had a liquor licence and they were arrested,\u201d said Maome.<\/p>\n
The suspects were taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were later released on a warning after paying an admission of guilt fine.<\/p>\n
