{"id":199486,"date":"2019-03-22T12:00:48","date_gmt":"2019-03-22T10:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=199486"},"modified":"2019-03-22T15:06:02","modified_gmt":"2019-03-22T13:06:02","slug":"alert-stage-two-loadshedding-happening-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2019\/03\/22\/alert-stage-two-loadshedding-happening-now\/","title":{"rendered":"ALERT: Stage two loadshedding is happening now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After seven days of stage four loadshedding Eskom has announce it will on implement stage two loadshedding today (Friday).<\/p>\n<p>Stage two loadshedding was implemented at 9am this morning, after an upgrade from stage one, and will continued throughout the day into the night (until 11pm).<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The company claims that a shortage in generating capacity has led to loadshedding, which\u00a0is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Friday, 22 March 2019: Eskom is currently implementing Stage 1 rotational loadshedding.  Stage 2 will be implemented from 09h00<br \/>and will continue until 23h00 today. charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Eskom further claimed a team is working around the clock to restore a number of generation units.<\/p>\n<p>During loadshedding customers are reminded to treat all electrical points as live.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom appeals to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period.<\/p>\n<p>Please switch off geysers, as well as all non-essential lighting and electrical appliances to assist in reducing demand.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do the different loadshedding stages work?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stage One<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stage one is implemented when Eskom requests a loadshedding range from between 10MW to 300MW.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this stage areas to be affected are divided into two equal load sizes to accommodate Eskom load reduction needs,\u201d Gadebe said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the metro schedule has eight areas in a block to be affected , only four of the eight areas may be affected on day one and the other remaining four areas will be affected on day two.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stage Two<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When stage two is declared, the metro\u2019s schedules are implemented in full.<\/p>\n<p>If there are eight areas in a block, all eight areas will be affected.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stage Three\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When Eskom\u2019s grid in under severe pressure stage three is implemented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStage three is completely out of the metro\u2019s control and is implemented by Eskom to protect the national grid from collapsing and to avoid a blackout.<\/p>\n<h4
