{"id":199355,"date":"2019-03-20T11:00:55","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T09:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=199355"},"modified":"2019-03-20T14:41:03","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T12:41:03","slug":"alert-prepare-day-five-stage-four-loadshedding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2019\/03\/20\/alert-prepare-day-five-stage-four-loadshedding\/","title":{"rendered":"ALERT: Prepare for day five of stage four loadshedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eskom has announced another day of stage four loadshedding.<\/p>\n<p>Stage four\u00a0loadshedding was implemented at 9am this morning, after an upgrade from stage two, and will continued throughout the day into the night.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The company claims that a shortage in generating capacity has led to loadshedding, which\u00a0is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Eskom_SA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Eskom_SA<\/a> is currently implementing Stage 2 rotational loadshedding.  Stage 4 will be implemented from 09h00 and will continue until 23h00 today.  This is due to a shortage of capacity.  We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.  <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CityPowerJhb?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CityPowerJhb<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/City_Ekurhuleni?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@City_Ekurhuleni<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CityTshwane?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CityTshwane<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Eskom Hld SOC Ltd (@Eskom_SA) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Eskom_SA\/status\/1108232437887315968?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 20, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The company further announced that a press briefing will be held today (Tuesday) at which Minister of Public Enterprises,\u00a0Pravin Gordhan, and the chairperson of Eskom\u2019s Board, Jabu Mabuza, will address the media on Eskom\u00a0and the current electricity supply problems.<\/p>\n<p>During loadshedding customers are reminded to treat all electrical points as live.<\/p>\n<p>Eskom appeals to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period.<\/p>\n<p>Please switch off geysers, as well as all non-essential lighting and electrical appliances to assist in reducing demand.<\/p>\n<p>You could save up to 10 per cent on your electricity bill without spending a cent \u2013 says\u00a0<a class=\"anchor_post\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eskom.co.za\/Pages\/Landing.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Eskom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div>Follow this checklist:<\/div>\n<div>1. Fridge and freezer:<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Set your fridge to 3\u00b0C \u2013 any lower and it will use more electricity than necessary.<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure the seals of your fridge and freezer doors are intact.<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Don\u2019t open the door unnecessarily.<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Place your fridge somewhere cool \u2013 away from sun-facing walls and windows, and as far as possible from the stove.<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Defrost your chest freezer twice a year; upright freezers should be defrosted three times a year.<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Don\u2019t overfill your fridge or freezer; only use 90 per cent of its capacity.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h4>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a class=\"anchor_post\" href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/197804\/many-landmark-features-to-be-renamed-in-ekurhuleni\/\" target=\"_blank\">Many landmark features to be renamed in Ekurhuleni<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a03. rooms.<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unplug all appliances you are not using.<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Don\u2019t leave computers, TVs and DVD players on standby \u2013 if you do, these appliances use up to 50 per cent of the power they normally use.<\/div>\n<div>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
