EMPD High-Speed Unit members arrested six motorists for excessive speeding, last Sunday.<\/p>\n
On the N12 highway eastbound between the R59 turn-off and the Voortrekker Road exit, five motorists were arrested between 5am and 11am.<\/p>
Additionally, during their afternoon operation at about 2pm on the N3 highway northbound near Gillooly\u2019s Interchange, one driver was arrested.<\/p>\n
On the N12 the five motorists caught were doing speeds of between 171 and 161km\/h.<\/p>
\u201cThey were all males, driving in four sedans and an LDV, aged between 25 and 50 years old, citing the usual reasons for being late for an aeroplane or an appointment,\u201d said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.<\/p>\n
The five arrestees were charged with reckless and negligent driving at the Alberton Police Station, but later released after posting bail of R1 000 each.<\/p>\n
