{"id":197239,"date":"2019-02-20T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/197239\/community-gets-active-and-healthy\/"},"modified":"2019-02-20T23:07:03","modified_gmt":"2019-02-20T21:07:03","slug":"community-gets-active-and-healthy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2019\/02\/20\/community-gets-active-and-healthy\/","title":{"rendered":"Community gets active and healthy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Staying fit and healthy is high on many people\u2019s list of priorities heading into a new year.<\/p>\n<p>With this in mind, and to help the community of Ekurhuleni reach and maintain their fitness goals, the metro hosted the first \u2018Fit for Free\u2019 aerobathon session of the year last Saturday morning.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The event saw hundreds of enthusiastic community members and fitness fanatics from across the city descending on Germiston Lake for high energy and sweat-dripping three-hour long work-out session, which was led by professional fitness instructors.<\/p>\n<p>The day offered participants an array of action-packed activities from Zumba, steps, aerobics, kick-boxing and karate, to name but a few.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Metro host their first \u2018Fit for Free\u2019 aerobathon session of 2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hq4uCKElQwg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This was not the first event of its kind.
