All the metro does is send in a team to fill the potholes but in a week or two the road is back to the way it was, if not worse.\u201d<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<h4>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a class=\"anchor_post\" href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/184991\/workers-demand-answers-from-metro-as-to-when-jobs-will-be-made-permanent\/\" target=\"_blank\">Workers demand answers from metro as to when jobs will be made permanent<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>While another motorist commented, \u201cThere is literally no more road left, just huge potholes which you often cannot see because of the water from the vlei.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApart from it being extremely dangerous, damage to vehicles is extremely likely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI drive a Hyundai i10 which is low on the ground and am worried my chassis will be damaged.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class='tie-fluid-width-video-wrapper tie-ignore-fitvid' style='margin-bottom: 30px;'>\n\t\t\t<iframe style='width: 100%; min-height: 300px; aspect-ratio: 16\/9;' src='https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/mgcRmVbigp4' loading='lazy'><\/iframe>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>The GCN met Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan in Nasmith Avenue on Friday, where a team was busy working to repair the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was the first complaint I received when I became a councillor more than two years ago and I have been dealing with it ever since,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan believes the two main factors causing the damage are the large number of large trucks using the road and the lack of drainage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough there are potholes littered along the road the main problems are found on the short stretch of road over a small vlei.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vlei has little to no drainage and because of this when it rains the road floods,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<h4>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a class=\"anchor_post\" href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/193638\/know-different-stages-loadshedding\/\" target=\"_blank\">Know the different stages of loadshedding<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>While on site, Morgan spoke to a contractor who explained the team were meant to start work on the road last year but due to a miscommunication they only began on Friday, when they returned to work.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed work on the road would take about five days, but that commuters could still use the road as a stop and go system had been set up.<\/p>\n<p>He further claimed that the team would also be repairing other small potholes along the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSadly Nasmith Avenue is not the only road that is in desperate need of repair. GCN sent a media query to the metro asking if there were any plans to upgrade the road and its infrastructure, but at the time of going to press no comment had been received.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1'
