Members of the EMPD High-Speed Unit recently arrested the 33-year-old male driver of a white Ford Escort after he was clocked at the breakneck speed of 210km\/h.<\/p>\n
The arrest took place at 7.45am on the N12 highway westbound between the Sam Green Bridge and the Germiston turn-off.<\/p>
\u201cThe man gave conflicting reasons for his excessive speed,\u201d said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt first he cited being late for work and later somersaulted and claimed he was being pursued by a suspicious white Mercedes Benz.\u201d<\/p>
He was detained at the Bedfordview Police Station and charged with reckless and negligent driving.<\/p>\n
