paint the town pink in support of breast cancer awareness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taal-Net Group of Schools, including the Meadowdale campus, in collaboration with Kempton Park Primary School, took to the streets of Kempton Park recently joining the world in the crusade of raising awareness about breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Dressed in pink T-shirts with pink ribbons pinned to their chests in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month the teachers and learners painted the town pink.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Taal-Net\u2019s group CEO Justin Magidi and the education director Jonas Mutengwa joined 14 teachers and 275 learners in the march which drew much attention from hooting culture<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Leading the march and shedding light on breast cancer symptoms, treatments and support groups, was Sikhanyisiwe Maphosa, principal of Kempton Park Primary School.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The inaugural march saw learners and teachers holding up placards with useful information about breast cancer and its effects on them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand that we waited until the last day to march, however, it is important to highlight that every day of October is equally important in raising awareness,\u201d said Aaron Chandiwana, the head of marketing at Taal-Net.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmphasising the importance of breast cancer awareness and the need for continued research into the subject should constantly be top of mind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSikhanyisiwe tirelessly spoke of the effects of breast cancer and felt the need to make the local community very aware about this subject.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe spoke of the need for all women to be proactive and take necessary measures to ensure early detection including but not limited to checking their breasts for lumps funds<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Both men and women took part in the march.<\/p>\n<p>It was also highlighted that research indicates that men can also be affected by breast cancer, though the cases were isolated.<\/p>\n<p>This apparently left a lot of men surprised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur main objective was to reach out to as many people as we could to make them aware of the illness,\u201d said Aaron.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the participants in the campaign were encouraged to share the awareness message with friends and family to help spread the word.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The EMPD joined the schools on
