At a glittering ceremony in the heart of Sandton\u2019s JSE building, recently, four Grade 11 Assumption Convent learners, together with their business studies teacher, Kyle Lauf, were announced as the overall winners of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange\u2019s Investment Challenge for Schools.<\/p>\n
The challenge is a nationwide investment simulation game, where high school contestants are given a fictitious sum of R1-million to invest in listed shares on the stock exchange.<\/p>
Learners are required to research and understand the types of shares available in South Africa and what influences their price fluctuations.<\/p>\n
Then they need to buy and sell these shares, accumulating profits that track the movements of the actual share prices.<\/p>
