Builders Warehouse in Lambton and Amanda van Straaten, the events coordinator of AK Events, welcomed the community of Germiston to their fun-filled Spring Flea Market and potjiekos competition, last Saturday.<\/p>\n

Music and delicious smells filled the air as community members moved between a variety of different stalls, all set up outside Builders Warehouse.<\/p>

\u201cThe fun-filled day included performances by local talent Wilma-Dee, Cowboy, Renier, Willem and DJ Gerhard who are always willing to sing at our events,\u201d said Amanda.<\/p>\n

Though the event offered residents a chance to get out and enjoy the warm weather, it also acted as a fund-raiser and collection point for Care Bear Gauteng Safe House for Abandoned and Abused Babies and Toddlers, in Elsburg.<\/p>

The home, established in 2016, can be found at 20 Joubert Street and is managed by Zenobia Venter and offers a place of safety to abused, orphaned and neglected children.<\/p>\n

The community was encouraged to donate baby products which were handed over to Care Bear Gauteng.<\/p>\n

Thunder MMA was credited with making the largest donation on the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot thank them enough,\u201d said Amanda.<\/p>\n

The event was a great success and enjoyed by all who attended.<\/p>\n
